Record flights of the 1930s

In this room, documents and photographs tell the story of the outstanding flights from the USSR to the USA by the crews of Valery Chkalov and Mikhail Gromov.

The centrepiece of the room is a painting by the artist A. M. Dubinchik “N. E. Zhukovsky among young Soviet pilots” (1952, oil).

The showcase contains authentic items (helmet, jacket and gloves) of the crew of Mikhail Gromov and equipment of the ANT-25 aircraft, a sextant and sunny course indicator – a monument to science and technology.

The sculptural portraits of all the glorious pilots who took part in the flights, pictures of pilot Yumashev from Gromov’s crew are displayed in the room.
